It seems the newer cleaners over the last 10 years won't do it, every customer ask will you?

Because my lame husband is busted!

They say I am carpet cleaner not a furniture mover!

Or my insurance won't let me!

Sounds like B's to me.

Just say I'm soft like ice cream and melt at the sight of work.

Do guys still carry blocks and tabs????

Basic furniture moving is part of the job. Nothing more embarrassing than saying you can't move a sofa but then the lady pushes it out of the way for you. No, we don't move book cases, China cabinets, most beds or anything too heavy for one person. Dining room chairs, sofas, coffee tables, etc are fair game. There is a reason why carpet cleaning distributors sell blocks and tabs.

I don't care if people do or don't, just don't lie why you can't.

My insurance won't let me hahahah
Have you ever had an employee file a injury claim? I have and it sucks. So I may move furniture when I'm in the field, but my employees don't, and it's because of insurance.

Maybe employees and risk, but an owner operator isn't insured for workman's comp.
I am. Here we have a personal exemption plan that pays a fixed rate or you can pay a percentage of your profit. The only problem may be proving your claim unless your customer can testify for you or you're in a vehicle accident.

Related to both this thread and the E-cigarette thread...

We had a crew lay a lamp onto a sofa so as not to damage the lamp while they moved the end table. The problem was the lamp was on a timer. The light came on while the customer was out walking her dog. Fortunately it wasn't a long walk and the damage was caught before a major fire happened. We had to buy her a new sofa and do some minor smoke clean up. It could have been a whole lot worse for sure.

If you have people working for you, you’re gonna have shiate happen that is just crazy. We just had one this past school year. You can’t think up all the scenarios.

Ive been cleaning carpets for 48 years now and in all honesty i have to say its not always the lazy ass employees, we all have done some sketchy shit and for the most part gota way unscathed. im sure that just about everybody thats been in business for a few years, weather yesterday or way way back in the beginning, did some damage or broke something. For instance. Ya ever move a piece of furniture in a regular customers house and discover a permanent furniture stain you made because you forgot to tab it last time????Maybe just one ???no one else but you would see?? Did ya do the right thing and report your mistake to the customer??? Or tab it this time and move the piece back???you really don't have to publicly answer that..... you know the few things your not proud of. we learn by mentors , classroom instructors, and SOHK . If not for our own mistakes

How would you be able to spot it when an employee does the same thing??? Im just sayin "he who is without sin cast the first stone" i read that somewhere🤓

I move furniture, but not all furniture. Like Ron I'll move small to medium sized reasonable things. And we charge extra. I need to get more furniture sliders.
Well I'm talking about small stuff, isn't breaking anything or hurting myself.

We all learn by experience. You only drag a sofa across a hardwood floor once with a missing leg and the screw protruding.
While doing a vacation rental, mine didn't have a screw sticking out but it did scratch . Thank god for minwax stain pens!
