Should I remove rubber mat from cargo area of Chevy Express before installing turckmount equipment ?

Yes. It usually has underlay that of it gets wet, it never dries out and causes rust. I like to have a Line-X or Rhino linings applied. Offers great protection
I wouldn't. The mat will probably trap water causing rust. Anywhere you drill holes should be cleaned and protected with some type of sealer or rino liner to prevent rust.
Just my opinion.
I don't have any mats in my cargo area.

3/4” rubber flooring has worked best for me. I ordered the mat that Chip Garber recommended, and while it fits nice and is easy to install, I found that it tears easily and some slats are needed to lay in the vans ribbed floor , to facilitate easy movement of wheeled machinery such as my 175, pile lifter etc.

I prefer the Line-X professionally applied product. Under the machine, I use heavy duty rubber matting to absorb the vibration. The rest of the van is just Line-X. Makes it easy to park on a slope and rinse out the van.
Ive always installed a 2 piece plywood floor with a glue down i/o carpet just as steamgeni did on all of the machines they installed. None of my vans ever had any floor rust problems . I pulled the floor outa a 1998 not to long ago to use as a template and underneath was/is still great generally 2 -10' sheets are required to make a floor but mylast van was extended and required 14" be grafted to the end to make it long enough then after cut to fit ilay the carpet backside up and place the well glue covered floor board on it and wrap around and staple with monel staples while glue is still wet slightly fold the floor and install it in van then i use a borrowed linoleum roller to set the carpet to floor boards only precaution is before i drill any in the floor i have a long bolt and a pair of vice grips . I heat the bolt with a propane torch and melt the carpet before i drill so as not to have any runs in the carpet the only thing i would do differently is i woud have had my local sheet metal shop eighter cut a piece of stainless to lay under my machine or fab a stainless pan. But my machine is a pto and the carpet inside the machine gets dirty and is impossible to clean. A final thought if you're considering doing this be sure that when you cut the floor make sure that you do it in a way that the single seem lines up with a raised rib in the floor so as to be supported and not flex when weight is put directly on it. No extra fasteners are necessary everything that bolts thru will hold it in place

I always did the plywood and loop Astro turf type carpet in all my vans until my current van. I bought and took it directly to JonDon to have the machine installed so I used the rubber mat that was in the van. It looks ok and is a little more work to keep clean but it doesn’t have any padding underneath, so it’s perfect. I just partially de-installed the setup to install the liner kit but the inside of the van looks fantastic.
